Designed by Weba Chute Systems in 2015, the rotary or anti-segregation chute is engineered to handle the transfer of material from a single conveyor into four separate silo compartments. This chute has the ability to rotate 360° discharging at intervals of 90°.
The rotary chute was initially designed to cater for manganese ore with a maximum lump size of 150mm at a maximum tonnage of 615 tph. During its first year of operation the primary underground crusher was not yet in full operation at this customer site and as a result the rotary chute successfully transferred maximum lump sizes of up to 450mm with minimal issues to both performance and wear.
Essentially, the rotary chute is a cascade chute that is engineered to provide high wear protection while simultaneously facilitate ease of maintenance due to the use of the Weba Quick Release Lip System.
This particular chute, installed in 2016, was so successful that a second rotary chute has now been supplied to the same mine.
